2019 – 2020

  • On Fabruary. 7, 2020 we had a district meeting at Abide Saraçoğlu discussed IW projects and planned our coming activities.

  • As the Chairman of District 244, myself, board members, club presidents and other members made our annual visit to Konak Inner Wheel Club on the 6th of February 2020.
    Işık Cürektlibatır and all the other members welcomed us with pleasure and honor. I would like to thank Konak Inner Wheel Club for hosting me and my board members.
  • As the Chairman of District 244, myself, board memebers, club presidents and other members made our annual visit to İzmir Inner Wheel Club on the 10 th of January 2020. Verda Yemişçi and all the other members had the ımmense honor and distinct pleasure to host us.
  • On the 13 th of January our guest of honor Inner Wheel President Mrs. Phyllis Charter arrived in İzmir. The next morning we visited the mayor of İzmir, Tunç Soyer . Then we had the inauguration of our rose garden with our guest of honors, Mr. and Mrs. Charter, the Inner Wheel President Then we had a Kemeraltı and İzmir trip guided by Sara Pardo
    At the dinner hosted by Ege Inner Wheel Club’s president Zeynep Pamukçu and the executive members, the district president Tuna Özgiller and the club presidents exchanged banners with Inner Wheel President Mrs. Phyllis Charter. The national representative of D.242 and D.244 İclal Kardıçalı, all of the club presidents of 244, the executive members and club members attended the event.
    The next day we went to Ephesus which was an ancient Greek city and later a major Roman city on the west coast of Aisa Minor , near Selçuk. The city was famed for the Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World. After Ephesus, we climbed up and arrived at Virgin Mary’s House. It is a place of pilgimage for Christians. It is believed that here, the mother of prophet lived and died. In addition to Christians, Muslims regard the house as sacred , too.
    On the same night we had enjoyable hours at a famous fish restaurant , called Deniz.
    The next day İclal Kardıçalı kindly invited the president of Inner Wheel Mrs. Phyllis Charter and Mr. Phyllis to lunch where we had a great time
    It was our honor and privilage to host Mr. and Mrs. Charter in İzmir.
    We are looking forward to seeing you again in İzmir,TURKEY.
  • On December. 16, 2019 we had a District meeting at our secretary’s house with the Executive Board members and the club Presidents. We discussed IW projects and planned our coming activities.
  • As the Chairman of District 244, myself ,board memebers, club presidents and other members made our annual visit to Ege İnner Wheel Club on the 12 th of December 2019.
    Zeynep Pamukçu and all the other members had the ımmense honor and distinct pleasure to host us.
  • On the 22 nd of November, the extended governing body had its 5th meeting at my house.We discussed about the details of the coming election.
  • Inner Wheel District 244 visited the Pink House on the 14 th of November. İsmet İnönü bought this house and lived there with his family for 48 years.
    It is one of the oldest houses in Ankara, Pembe Köşk became the scene of many of first balls, exhibitions, concerts and scientific meetings. It played a big role in our social and cultural life after Ankara became the capital. Also Atatürk’s revalution meetings took place there İsmet İnönü was a successful general and statesman. He took on important tasks in the National Struggle with Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. He also served as the second President of Turkey from 1938 to 1950.

  • Inner Wheel District 244 visited Anıtkabir which is the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the leader of the Turkısh War of Independence and the founder and the first president of the Turkish Republic.

  • On the 12th of November Konak Inner Wheel Club organized a fund raising project to contribute to the education of children.
  • Ege Inner Wheel Club, D.244 organized Söke, Selçuk trip in the leadership of Zeynep Pamukçu. First we went to Virgin Mary’s House in Bülbüldağı where she spent her last years. It is a place of pilgrimage for Christians. It is thought that Mary’s tomb is also in Bülbüdağı. There is a small Byzantine Church beside the house. It is believed that Mary’s House is sacred because she gave birth to jesus as the Son Of God.
    Then we went to the market place in Söke, later ate a delicious lunch which was sponsored by Ömür Bozoklar. Finanly we went to an anncient Greek village known as Domatia. At the end of the day we were very tired but happy.
  • We would like to thank Konak Inner Wheel Club for organizing the rembemberance day for Atatürk and thanks also for inviting an exceptionally nice honorable gentleman Henri Benazus whose conversational style and the content of the speech were out of this world. His speech was listened by the partipants with tears flowing through their eyes
  • Atatürk was a successful military commander, and later established a democratic constitution and put in place changes that set Turkey on the road to becoming a new and developing nation. After his death on the November 10 we stand for a minute of silence at every anniversary of his death. Inner Wheel District 244, governing body, with Tuna Zuhal Özgiller District president was at Cumhuriyet Square.
  • Ege Inner Wheel, District 244 is working on Visc Project in Tikveşli Primary School, this project continues for six weeks.
    Instructions are given to students in order to grow proper behavior betwen children.
    The projeet was created by Prof. Dagmar Stohmeir who visited İzmir, she had a meeting with Ege Inner Wheel Club in Swiss Hotel. The meeting was held in a very friendly and sincere atmosphere.
  • Our 244 Disrict members participated to the celebration of Republic Day by taking place in the marching group.
  • We honored 96th Anniversary of our Republic by presenting our wreath.
  • On the 24 th of October, the extended governing body had it’s 4th meeting at Kordon Hotel. We discussed violence against women, children’s rights and bullying. We’re planning lectures about these topics for women and children.
  • District president Tuna Özgiller visited Atakent Club on October the 9th.On the same day, we also held a ceremony for two new members of Atakent Club. It was a privilege and honour for me to be with Atakent Club. I would like to express my gratitude to President Ayşe Ece Yengin Türker for her warm hospitality.
  •   

  • Atakent Club, District 244, furnished a classroom for the Kindergarten School at Kemal Hadımlar School. Ayşe Türker, the chairman of the Club and the other members worked very hard and bought new carpets, cushions, toys….etc..
    As it is said “everything you can imagine is real.”
  • On the 23 rd of September, The governing body had its 3rd meeting at Mr.Kardiçallı’s office, We discussed fund- raising projects, women’s rights, education of children and celebration of Republic Day.
  • Ege Inner Wheel, District 244 organized a trip to Cappodocia. We discovered the beautiful region by the help of Yusuf bey who was our guide. Cappodocia is in central Turkey and it is known for its distinctive “fairychimneys.” They are tall cone shaped rock formations in Monks valley, Göreme and elsewhere. A notable site was Bronze age homes which were later used as refuges by early Christians.
  • On the 19 th of August, in the leeadership of Tuna Özgiller, the president of District 244, the extended governing body had the second meeting at her house. We mainly discussed how we could contribute to the education of children.
  • On the 19th of July, I invited the extended gorverning body of District 244 to a brunch at ”Filozof” where we also held the first meeting. We made plans, programs about sexual abuse, violence against women and many other projects. We were also very happy because three of our friends from District 242, Figen Bilge, Siren Toksoy and Nilgün Önder joined us.
